Team Issues?



99% of the time team problems can be attributed to one of two root causes: Lack of leadership or a bad apple in the bunch.

I've addressed bad apples in the past. Document the problem, inform the malcontent that they are harming the organization, have zero tolerance for negativity and nastiness and finally, if necessary, fire them. If you can't do that because of union rules, transfer them to Siberia where they can do no harm. ...

You'll Never Get There from Here



It's so obvious I hate to even write this. But alas, there are people who still don't get it.

If the guys in this boat are not working together, the boat will go in circles---or maybe it will go nowhere.

Someone wants to show that they are the strongest---they will row faster. Circles.

Someone is too smart to row, they will plan the course. Circles.

Someone will say it's not their job to row; they design boats. Circles.

Mateship



Mateship. I've just finished Peter Fiztsimmons, "Tobruk". Out numbered and under equipped, the Aussies held Tobruk for 8 months. At the time, it was considered nearly impossible for the Australian forces to hold Tobruk for two months against the far superior forces of Rommel.

At the end of the siege, as generals and journalists tried to come up with the answer as to how the feat was achieved, the victory was attributed to Australian "mateship".
